Introduction
Datarails allows users to automatically sync their data with connected software, ensuring the most recent information is always available. This guide will provide step-by-step instructions on how to set up a sync cadence for your data and get a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
Understanding Data Sync Options
Whenever there's a live connection between Datarails and another software like an ERP system, users have two syncing options:
- Manual Sync: Sync the Filebox on demand. This is done by hovering over the relevant input Filebox and clicking on “Sync”.
- Automatic Sync: Set up a specific time interval for automatic synchronization according to a predefined cadence.
How to Set Up an Automatic Sync Cadence:
1. Access the Filebox:
- Click on the name of the Filebox that has a live connection.
2. Navigate to Settings:
- Once inside, go to the settings of this Filebox.
- Scroll all the way down to the Data Connection Section where details on the Connection type are visible.
3. Setting the Sync Frequency:
- Click on "time interval settings."
- A drop-down menu will appear, allowing you to choose the sync frequency. Options include:
-
Monthly
-
Weekly
-
Daily
-
Hourly
-
Yearly
-
Custom intervals
Note: The daily sync is popular among users. By default, it runs every weekday (Monday through Friday) at a chosen time, like 7 a.m. local time.
-
4. Defining Sync Periods:
- While in the settings, you'll have the opportunity to specify which periods should be synced during each interval.
- The default option, especially if there's a Month Tag attached to the Filebox, is to sync the current and the previous month. However, this can be customized:
- Only the current month
- Sync multiple periods (e.g., current month, previous month, and the three months before that).
5. Save Your Settings:
- After making your selections, click "save."
Once completed, the chosen Filebox will sync automatically based on your specifications. Using the default daily setting as an example, the Filebox would sync every morning at 7 a.m. from Monday through Friday.
Conclusion
Automating your sync cadence with Datarails is a straightforward process, ensuring you always have the most up-to-date data. By understanding and leveraging these settings, you can make the most of your connected software and Datarails platform.
