Datarails Dataflow provides a comprehensive and structured overview of your data processes and their dependencies. It helps you understand how Inputs and Lookups affect data flow within your environment. It simplifies data validation and structure reviews for team members.

Every user with access to the Tables section can view the Dataflow screen. 

Dataflow enables:

• Comprehensive view of each table, including inputs, outputs, Lookups, Models, and highlighted connections.

• Detailed information on any table components, such as Lookup configuration details.

• Centralized error viewing within the table, if errors exist.

• Quick navigation to components, including connected Reports & Dashboards. 

Access the Dataflow

To access the Dataflow screen, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Tables section in the left side panel.
2. Click on the Dataflow icon next to the table you want to review. Alternatively, you can click on the main Dataflow icon located at the top of the interface. 
3. The Dataflow screen will now be opened, displaying the comprehensive overview of your selected table.

Dataflow Structure 

Top Panel

When you open the Dataflow window, you'll see a preview of your selected table. Use the top panel to navigate between different tables by clicking on their names. You can also adjust the screen size using zoom controls, reset the view, and search for specific items using the search bar.

Main screen

The main screen is divided into 4 sections:

• Inputs and Models Fileboxes
• Lookups
• Tables and Calculation Models
• Outputs (Reports, Dashboards, Storyboards and Models)

Each box represents an item in the flow, displaying its type and name. Errors, if exist, are indicated on the box itself, and hovering over it reveals details.

Lines between items represent connections, including Data Mappers that are applied.

Clicking on an item highlights its connection lines with all connected items and opens a right sidebar with detailed information. This sidebar varies depending on the item type and includes:

• Item name with a direct link
• Included in DB/Uploaded status
• Latest Tag
• Latest submission
• Auto Calc (appears if enabled)
• Target Tables & Source Table
• Lookup configuration
