Datarails Flex for Windows Installation

Flex for Windows, the Datarails Excel Add-in for FP&A, is your central hub to leverage the full functionality of Datarails. This add-in is a core component of the Datarails platform, enabling users to create dynamic reports and analyses with a live connection to the Datarails database. Additionally, it allows publishing these reports to the dashboard and Power Point.

Pre-requisites 

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or higher
  • Excel Version: 2016 or higher
  • Permissions: Standard Windows user
  • Hardware:
    Minimal: i5 processor (or similar) with 8GB RAM
    Recommended: i7 processor (or similar) with 16GB RAM

Install Flex for Windows

Before starting the installation, it's recommended to save and close all open Excel files.

  1. Log in to the Datarails web app.
  2. Click on your username in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Download Flex (Excel add-in) from the dropdown menu.
  4. Follow the instructions provided by your computer’s installation wizard.
  5. Click OK upon completion.

 

Open Excel, where the Datarails add-in should be visible in the ribbon. If you don’t see the Datarails tab, refer to our Troubleshooting guide.

Update Flex for Windows

To access the latest features, download the most recent version of Flex for Windows by following the installation steps above. If a newer version is available, the Flex Add-in will notify you automatically.

Security Requirements

Command-Line Switches (Optional) 

/S: Runs the installer silently, installing to a default directory.
Target Directory: Specify with /DIR=my_path.
Target Path: Default is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Datarails Sync App.
Temp Directory: In rare cases, the default temp directory (used by installer to extract files) might be blocked by the organization's domain policy. To specify a different temp directory, use "/TEMP=temp_path" command line switch. Wrap the parameter and the value in double quotes. The temp_path must be writable. Example: Install.exe "/TEMP=c:\temp"
