Datarails Flex Add-In: Export Reports

The Datarails Flex Add-In allows users to efficiently generate and export reports with both Datarails and non-Datarails users. Whether you need to send reports to stakeholders within your organization or external recipients who do not use Datarails, the add-in provides export options that ensure seamless data accessibility.

This article covers how to export reports in Excel while ensuring that formulas and dynamic data are either preserved or converted to static values for broader compatibility.

Exporting the report will save values as static, meaning the data will not update dynamically as it does in the Flex Add-In. Ensure that you export only finalized data if you need to share accurate, non-changing information.

Export as Values

When sharing reports with users who do not have the Datarails Excel add-in, it is essential to remove Datarails-specific formulas. Without the add-in, certain formulas (such as DR.GET) may result in errors. To prevent this, you can export reports as static values.

  1. Open the Excel report that you want to export.
  2. Navigate to the Datarails Add-In and under the Share section, click on Export.
  3. From the dropdown menu, choose Export as Values.
  4. Select the destination folder and save the new file.
  5. A new report will be created, containing static values. Report can be shared with other users.

Export as PDF

If you need to export and share a report in a non-editable format, Datarails Flex Add-In allows you to export directly to PDF.

  1. Open the Excel report that you want to save as a PDF.
  2. Navigate to the Datarails Add-In and under the Share section, click on Export.
  3. From the dropdown menu, choose Export as PDF.
  4. Select the destination folder and save the new file.
  5. A new PDF will be created, containing the report values. Report can be shared with other users.

Datarails provides flexible sharing options, allowing users to efficiently distribute reports while ensuring compatibility across different systems. By exporting reports as values or PDFs, you can export critical financial and operational insights with both internal teams and external stakeholders, regardless of their access to Datarails.
