Pie Chart

The Pie Chart Widget in Datarails is a powerful visualization tool designed to help users understand how a whole is divided into its component parts. Whether you're analyzing expense categories, revenue streams, or any distribution of values, the pie chart presents the data in a clear, circular format that’s easy to interpret at a glance.

Best Practices and Use Cases

  • Ideal for showing part-to-whole relationships, such as expense breakdowns.

  • Best suited for categories with limited segments to avoid cluttered visuals.

  • Useful for interactive presentations and dashboards where drilling into details is needed.

Create a Pie Chart Widget

  1. On your dashboard, click the New button.

  2. Select Add Widget, then choose the Custom category.

  3. Enter a clear, unique name for your widget to help identify it later.

  4.  Choose Pie Chart Widget from the list, then click Next to open the Widget Editor.

  5. In the Widget Editor, select the table containing the data you want to visualize.

  6. Drag and drop the fields you want to use as the Pie Segments and Drill Down Levels. For example: Report Field and Account Full.

  7.  Add the Value field, and apply relevant filters to narrow down the data. For example, filter to show only Income.
