Embedded ranges, formerly known as Published Ranges, let you share your work by publishing a range from your Excel workbook directly to a Datarails dashboard. The numbers you have built in Excel then appear on the dashboard alongside everything else, and stay up to date with the latest insights.

In the task pane, go to Management > Embedded ranges.

Publish a range to a dashboard

1. Select the range in your worksheet that you want to publish.
2. Go to Management > Embedded ranges > Publish to dashboard.
3. Select range opens with your selection already filled in. Adjust it if you need to, then click Save.

4. Embed Excel range in dashboard widget opens. Enter a Widget name, then choose the dashboard from Select dashboard. Tick Highlight selected range in the Excel if you want the range outlined in your sheet.
5. Click Embed in dashboard.

Your range becomes a widget on that dashboard, so it appears alongside everything else there.

Your file must be saved and connected to a Filebox before you can publish a range.

Manage embedded ranges

Go to Management > Embedded ranges > Manage embedded ranges to see everything you have already published from this workbook. Each row shows the widget name, the dashboard and tab it appears on, and the range it covers. Use the search box to find one. From here you can:

• Rename a published range
• Delete a published range you no longer need

Click Submit changes to save what you have changed.

Dashboard inputs - Coming soon!

Dashboard inputs let a value from your workbook feed into an input on a dashboard, so a number you maintain in Excel can drive something on the dashboard side.

Add and manage dashboard inputs from Management > Embedded ranges.

Limitations

• DR.INCLUDE is not supported inside embedded ranges. See DR Formulas (link TBD).
• Large ranges take longer to publish, depending on the amount of data involved.

Working across platforms

Embedded ranges behave identically on Windows desktop, Mac desktop and Excel on the web.
