You've done the analysis. It's now time to share the results with others. There are several ways to do this. A great option is to create a PowerPoint presentation using linked data from the Datarails database.
You can also create a live interaction between the PowerPoint and your data. For more on this, jump to the section, Create a Live Drill Down.

Learn the PowerPoint Ribbon
The ribbon has menu items split into these groups:

Clicking the icon refreshes all widgets in the PowerPoint. The dropdown menu includes additional options:

Submit | Save the data in the PowerPoint to the associated Filebox. |

Import Widget | Opens the interface to import widgets from dashboards into the PowerPoint. |
Widget Active View | Activate an active connection to the database to enable drilldowns or filters. |
Date Picker | Creates a dynamic reference date for widgets that use "Time Frame" filters. |
Filters | Manage filters. Edit an existing filter or add new filter. |

Disconnect | Disconnect the PowerPoint from data in the database |
Link a Dashboard Widget to a PowerPoint
This will link a chart from your Dashboard and place it in a PowerPoint. The chart will show the latest data.
- Make sure you are logged in have permission to dashboards in datarails
- Open PowerPoint.
- From the PowerPoint Datarails ribbon, click import widget
- Navigate to the dashboard containing the widget you want to import.
- Select the widget and click on “Add Widget” or “Add with AI Insights”
- “Add widget” will add an image of the selected widget from dashboard
- Choosing "Add with AI Insights" generate the image together with a title and text, using Datarails AI Insights, to explain the dataset displayed in the widget.
- Click Submit/Upload to save the file to a filebox
The chart/s in the PowerPoint are linked to the database but they are static. To make the charts dynamic and perform live drilldowns, see the next section.
Create a Live Drill Down
When you select a chart and click on “Widget Active View”, it mirrors the chart in the dashboard. This means that you can perform real-time drill-downs in your PowerPoint.
To drill down, you must have created the drill down in the widget in the Dashboard - see the article Dashboard Drill Down.
- This section continues from the previous section. In PowerPoint, click the visual /chart that you have added.
- Next, from the Datarails ribbon, click “Widget Active view”. A new version of the chart opens up over the existing (static) chart.
- Click items on the legend or the chart to view the drill down.
- Click Back to go back one step or click x to close and go back to the main PowerPoint screen.
Keep PowerPoint Synced
Once you have submitted the file back to Datarails, the PowerPoint file with the linked widgets will automatically update to show the latest data when you next open it.
