This article describes how to generate an interactive dashboard within minutes, and gain insights using data from your QuickBooks Online.
Getting Started
Step 1: Enter Your Credentials
- Click the link you received via email. This will take you to the start of QuickBooks Online Experience wizard.
- Enter your email and a password.
Using Single Sign On (SSO): If you elect to login using SSO, use this each time you login.
Step 2: Connect Your Data
- Click QuickBooks Online.
- Login to QuickBooks Online using your QuickBooks Online credentials.
- Let the wizard run, whilst it creates an environment and imports your data.
Step 3: Get Insights from Your Dashboard
For the best insights, download our Excel Add-in so that you can:
- Publish the dashboard
- Filter the data
- Use DR functions and formulas
- Perform drill downs
- Select the dashboard you want to view and click Download Excel Add-in (or click the button at the top of the screen).
- Follow the wizard.
- When the download is complete a confirmation message will show on the screen.
- Click Go to Dashboard to open it.
- Click the interactive widgets to gain insights.
- Once you have the Excel Add-in you can work right from within Excel. See the article Excel Add-in Right Pane.
Without the Excel Add-in installed, a downloaded file will include values only.
Synchronize QuickBooks Online Data
There are two (2) options to keep your QuickBooks Online / P&L self-service dashboards up to date:
You can sync from the Home page (see below).
Auto Sync
Set the Sync Frequency
- From the Dashboard/Reports screen, click Sync Data and select Set Auto Sync.
- Set the frequency:
- Click the relevant tab: daily, weekly. monthly
- Select from every day or every weekday
- Set the time (your local time zone)
- When set, you’ll get an on-screen confirmation message that the synchronization setup is complete.
Manual Sync
- From the Dashboard/Reports screen, click Sync Data and select Sync Now.
- Let the wizard run.
- When complete you’ll get an on-screen confirmation message that the data has been imported.
