The Dashboard feature produces nimble, interactive and intuitive charts that allow for quick and effective analysis and presentation.
- Dashboards are dynamic to change based on filters and updated data; as well as allow for drill downs to underlying data.
- Dashboards are highly customizable, with interactive filtering capabilities, as well as many chart types and formatting options.
- Widgets aggregate and consolidate data from across various data sources
- Dashboards can be shared with stakeholders in many different ways; schedule an automated email, export to PDF or share a link.
- Dashboards do not require highly technical skills; rather only some basic dragging and dropping.
Please watch this brief video which provides an overview of the various dashboard features.
Getting Started
The dashboard can be accessed via the top pane or the left pane via the tab marked, Dashboard. There are two main sections of the Dashboard:
- The Dashboard Header controls the whole dashboard.
- The Widget Toolbar has its own editor.
Create Your First Dashboard and First Widget
In this example, four widgets are shown, however there could be less or more—it's up to you.
Please watch this brief tutorial video on how to create dashboards and widgets.
-
Your first dashboard is created automatically and is called Visualization.
-
To rename the dashboard, click Add > Rename Dashboard.
-
To add a widget, from the top right click Add > Add a Widget or click Add New Widget at the bottom of the screen. A new screen opens.
-
There a several things that you can do from this screen:
- Name the Widget (#1)
- Select the table that contains the data you need. If you have defined a default table, it will show here automatically. If not, select the table (#2).
- Select the chart type. Use the tooltips to help you choose (#3,4).
-
When you’re ready, click Continue to Widget Editor (#5). The Widget Editor screen has all the features needed to create and configure charts. Read more about Creating Widgets.

- Dashboard / Widget / Text Widget / Add/Edit Global Filter / Clone Dashboard.
Second Row

- Applies a time dimension to the dashboard. See more in the article, Date Ranges in DR Functions.
-
Saves the applied settings.
Dashboard Reference Date
The key purpose of the Dashboard Reference Date is to provide a consistent reference point to your widgets.
It serves as a reference date that helps align and analyze financial data within a selected time frame.
When using the Dashboard Reference Date, you can choose from various time dimensions: day, month, quarter, or year. Once selected, the data presented in your dashboard will be adjusted to the end of the time period.
To learn more, visit the Reference Date article.
Use the Date Picker in a DR Formula
If a named range in Excel uses the DR formula DR_DATE_PICKER, and the data is used in widgets on the dashboard, then the data shows will adjust according to the date used in the Date Picker and the relative time associated with the date (year to date, whole month, etc.). Please take a look at the article Date ranges in DR Functions.

Add Comments to a Widget
See the section, Add Comments to a Widget from the article, Widgets Overview.
Delete a Range
To delete a range from a Dashboard, first delete it from the Excel file, and then delete it from the Dashboard.
Clone a Dashboard
Cloning a dashboard saves time and effort. You can then edit only the elements that you need to change.
- Click Clone Dashboard. A new screen opens.
- Enter the new name.
- Save your changes.
Clone a Dashboard to Sub-Organization
You can export a dashboard from the parent organization to a linked organization, or from a template to all organizations with the same parent.
The dashboards will be added to the sub-orgs and will present their data, but the users of the sub-org won’t be able to make any changes to it.
The admins of the parent organization or the template will be able to update the dashboards on the sub-org any time, as only the widgets that can be updated will be added to the sub-org imported dashboard. An Excel file detailing the widgets that could not be cloned will be available for download by the parent org admin who copied the dashboard.
- The export feature is designed for a set of organizations whose structures are identical. If not, the export may not work as none of the widgets will successfully clone. It’s recommended to make sure that the data structure in the destination matches the data structure in the source.
- Previously published items will NOT be cloned in the exported dashboards.
-
The exported dashboard will NOT be editable by the destination organization.
