Note: This article explains the initial set-up of your Xero integration. If you'd like to add a second entity, follow these instructions instead.
Datarails Integrations solution is a paid plan that lets you consolidate all your data sources and seamlessly connect your external apps to the Datarails web app. For more information contact our integrations team here.
- Datarails Fileboxes can sync data automatically from the Xero system
- Following a schedule set by the user, the Xero system is queried. The results are stored as a CSV version in the target Filebox and can be used in Datarails like any other Filebox
Prerequisites
- Admin access to Xero, with privileges to allow access for new integration connections
- Admin access to Datarails to set up the integration between Datarails and Xero (the integration can be later shared with non-admin users)
Data is only transferred from Xero to Datarails.
Datarails does not write or modify any data in Xero, and therefore only requires access to view your reports, organization settings, and general ledger
Step 1: Create Xero Data Source in Datarails
This procedure is performed by a Datarails Admin within the organization.
- Go to Admin > Data Sources.
- From the top right, click Add New Data Source.
- In the Edit Data Source dialog, do the following:
- Organization (#1 from the image below): Select the organization to which you want to assign the connection.
- Sync User (#2): Select your sync user (automatically created).
- Type (#3): Select Xero.
- Name (#4): Name the integration (e.g. Xero integration).
- Click Save (#5); after clicking save the Connect button will appear.
- Click Connect.
- Click Test; a positive test result is indicated by an OK.
- In the Datarails pop-up, select the organization you want to connect to Datarails
Only one organization can be added at a time (see optional step below).
- Click Allow Access
Optional: To add an additional organization, click Add Company
Step 2: Share the Connection
After the Data Source is created, you can share it with other Datarails users.
Note Only users with permission to the Data Source, can use it for querying and syncing data to Datarails Fileboxes
- Navigate to the Data Source you created, and select Share
- In the Invite a team member dialog, enter the email address of the person you want to share the Data Source with, then click Send.
In the window Object to Query choose the report you want to sync and then print screen.
