2.5.3 Excel Exercise #2

Exercise #2:  Formulas

Open the sheet "Exercise #2" in the file "P&L - Practice Report" Excel file (see here how to access it).

Note that all numbers on the sheet show zero, because the Datarails formulas that power the report are missing. Your task is to add them.

Instructions:

  1. Finish the Excel report by adding the appropriate Datarails formulas for the cells with a yellow background.
  2. If you already set a Global Filters in exercise #1, set it back to "All" to disable it before doing this exercise (in tab Exercise #1).
  3. Make the formulas dynamic. That means, once you have created the formulas in row 13,  you can copy them down to all other rows and they should change automatically.
  4. Hint: Use the Formula Builder or the Report Builder to determine which formula parameter refers to the accounts listed in column B. Datarails automatically creates hierarchy levels from your Chart of Accounts. You can explore what they are by dragging and dropping fields into the Row box in Formula Builder and Report Builder.
  5. Important: When you are done, click Submit on your Datarails ribbon to save the report to the Database cloud.
